Last night’s game was an easy call: The Cubs were on the road, running into arguably the best pitcher in baseball at the moment, throwing for a team on an unprecedented heater. Hard to see a W coming. But if Clayton Kershaw is MLB’s top hurler, then it could be argued that Travis Wood is the league’s unsung hero.
But lost in the glory of that win was an awkward sliding catch by Darnell McDonald, that also carved up a sizable chunk of Chavez Ravine. But McDonald, if not efficient, is nothing but polite.
This team may be a mess, but it always cleans up after itself.
