1. Hawks’ Eddie Olczyk inducted into HOF
With little to be excited and/or not depressed about in the realm of professional hockey, Chicagoans can at least take a moment this Tuesday morning and crack a proud smile for this native son, class act, and deserving member of the NHL Hall Of Fame.

2. Urlacher gets Cutler’s back
A few months ago, we started a conversation around Jay Cutler’s “dickishness,” but did so not to discourage the QB’s ‘tude, but to encourage it, arguing that a winning quarterback becomes a winning quarterback not by running away from his instincts, but by trusting them. So far, he seems to have listened (see: Webb bump, Tice shun, Cig smoking). While we’d prefer hearing Jay tell us to back off, we can’t help but agree with Brian…assuming they keep winning.
3. Hinrich + Hamilton = Functional backcourt?
“The benefit to all their battles is a sense of familiarity forged from years of white-hot competition,” writes K.C. Johnson about the veteran duo tasked with fueling the Rose-less Bulls for the bulk of the season (assuming Derrick’s recovery schedule is accurate.) A little lipstick on the pig? Maybe, but if they’re healthy, and if Hamilton can still peel off those screens, there could be something there.

4. Big Ten to score 8 bowl games?
Less impressive in this bloated post-season era of redundant, rabid and relatively meaningless corporate productions; which, of course, makes it even more disappointing that the Fighting Illini didn’t make the list.
