A WIN, BUT…: During the third quarter of the Bears’ 28-10 win over Minnesota, the narrative switched from blowout to body count. The return of Jay Cutler (Daily Herald) and Brandon Marshall surpassing 1,000 receiving yards (Chicago Sun-Times) helped snap a two-game skid, but the Bears lost Devin Hester to a concussion, Matt Forte and Charles Tillman to ankle injuries, and offensive lineman Chris Spencer and Lance Louis to knee sprains. The severity of the injuries (ESPN Chicago) remains murky, but a key win over a division foe—coupled with a Green Bay loss (NFL.com) to put the Bears back in first place in the NFC North—did not come easily.
We’ll also take a moment to laud the job done by a patchwork offensive line (Chicago Tribune) and share SB Nation’s laugh-out-loud funny GIF of Cutler tying whipping boy J’Marcus Webb’s shoe in the huddle. There’s also a photo of Smokin’ Jay Cutler’s head on the the honey badger’s body (Buzzfeed).
